Make Your Own Lunchmeat to Save Money (Video)

Video on how to save money by making homemade lunchmeat - EatingRichly.com

Okay friends, getting real here. Money is TI-IGHT. Yes, two syllable tight. The three months of unpaid maternity leave before I quit my job (which we weren’t planning on but are now endlessly thrilled about) emptied our savings and even put us in a little debt. To try and get debt free again, and build up a new emergency fund, we have been tightening our budgets more than ever.

One of our biggest secrets for saving money on food is to make our own lunchmeat.

In fact, it helps us so much, we even made a video all about homemade lunchmeat!  The video also features the amazing slicer we use for meat, cheese, and homemade bread. It’s even $60 off right now! Good thing a gift card covered most of ours or I’d be ticked I didn’t get it on sale :)

What’s your favorite lunchmeat?

I’m glad you’re staying home with Corban. Being a stay-at-home mom is rewarding.

Question – do you use this for anything else? We don’t eat a lot of lunchmeat to start with, but the idea is intriguing – but probably only if we could use the machine for other uses too.

Great question Cindy. I LOVE using it to slice homemade bread (the only way we get even slices), and we buy cheese in bulk to save money so slicing it with this is much easier and faster than by hand. I would guess you could also use it for large vegetables like zucchini.

What a great idea! Wish I had one of those cool slicers! We eat a ton of natural, non-nitrite and -nitrate lunchmeat, which gets expensive, for sure.

It really is handy and money saving in the long run. Christmas gift?

Great idea Diane. Do you rent out your machine :)? I suppose I could just slice it with my knife.
