A Quick Look at Christmas and Heading to Oregon

We’ve been so busy that though I’ve created lots of wintry recipes and taken lots of photos, I just haven’t had time to put a post together.  Especially with all the prep for our local ingredient Christmas party.  On Christmas day Eric and I went snowshoeing in the first snow of the season as our present to each other.  It was an epic day and I’ll have a video for you later which includes our car precariously sliding towards a cliff as we slid for a mile down the mountain without any traction!

On Christmas Eve we had gone to the service at our church with Eric’s parents and then had a lovely lobster dinner at their house afterward.

After our snowshoeing adventure Christmas morning, we headed to my parents house for dinner and had a wonderful time driving my grandparents home afterward and hearing stories of their years living in Africa.  Soon I’ll show you some of the gifts we got, I think you’ll be as excited as I am!

Tonight we drove an hour and half to Eric’s aunt and uncle’s home (with a side trip to deliver a wallet stuffed with cash that we’d found in our parking lot, guess someone dropped it while visiting one of our neighbors and boy was he shocked when we showed up at his door from the address on his driver’s license!).  Every year Eric’s extended family has a HUGE Christmas get together.  Here we are with Eric’s cousin Brandon, one of our favorite teenagers in the world!

And speaking of teenagers, I need to get to bed because tomorrow we get up at 5am to drive 8 teenagers down to Oregon for an event called winter youth.  I’ll be incommunicado during that time, but expect to hear more from me on Thursday.  I’ll have a great oyster recipe for you then!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
