It’s that time again, our annual Johnson Gingerbread Contest. Whether it’s houses, trains, chapels, ski lodges…we go to town with gingerbread, frosting, and candy. Last year’s competition was our first, and this year it was taken to new levels of awesomeness! Below I’ll show photos of each house along with some detail shots. Your job is to vote for your favorite. We’d also love it if you leave comments on why you picked the one you did. Mainly so we can rub it in each others’ faces 😉
Jolly Ski Lodge
The Jolly Ski Lodge is a perfect winter retreat for the avid skier.

Polar Bear Party
Little do the playful gingerbread men know that there’s a polar bear party below!

Gingerbread men love to ski and sled past friendly snowmen. 
The perfect pond for polar bears to play in made of jolly ranchers and rock candy. 
An igloo of sugar for the shy bears to hide out.
Gingerbread Snow Train
A gingerbread snow train that doubles as a candy dish! 
A gumdrop lamp, gingerbread outhouse for the railway travelers and a skiing gingerbread man. 
A frosting couple cuddling under a gingerbread blanket and watching over the candy in the “nice” car. 
A coal car deliver tasty chocolate coal that will make you want to be naughty. 
A rock candy smoke cloud, marshmallow train tracks, and shredded wheat station house.
I enjoyed the train b/c of the detail put into the train and the rock candy smoke cloud. also, it’s not the run of the mill gingerbread house very nice!

Hard choice here. Each one had details that were really good. All three are winning quality!

Patti and I had great fun with Eric, Diana, Heather and John last Sunday afternoon. This is a great new Tradition. Last year two of the couples bought the gingerbread house kits sold at stores. This year everyone baked their own gingerbread!
I voted for the snow train as it is the most “prettiest” defined gingerbread house and that my two younger sons love trains so I was partial to it before I really looked at each picture. Thank you for letting me vote. Great work!!! Cheryl

I loved the polar bears swimming pool and the gingerbread men sledding! The rock chimney is cool too. The whole thing is just adorable! I love it!

I chose the polar bear party be cause I just adore the cave with the sugar cube entrance!
I was drawn to the train; it has a look of nostalgia – and trains and Christmas just seem to go together! Great detail, color, even a little whole grain nutrition! Outhouse, lumps of coal, tempting candy treats – naughty/nice – very creative!
But, I also like the Polar Bear party w/frolicking Gingerbread figures sledding and Polar Bears skating – snow and fun another great twosome!
While not a skier, the house w/hot tub seems like an inviting retreat for the weary skier. Amazing what can be done w/sugar and spice and everything nice….:)
