Judge our Gingerbread House Competition!!!

On Saturday, Eric and I got together with his sister Heather and her boyfriend John, and Eric’s parents, Jeff and Patti, to have a couple’s gingerbread house contest. It was a lot of fun, and we decided it would be great to have a bunch of unbiased people be our judges.
So I came up with the brilliant idea of posting the pictures on my blog and letting my fellow foodies vote on them. I’m posting an overall shot of each house along with some up close detail photos. Please leave a comment on which gingerbread house you think should win (A, B, of C) and why you chose it. On Wednesday, December 10th I’ll tally the comments and declare who you chose as winner! (Eric, Heather, John, Mom and Dad, you don’t get to vote!)

  1. Oh my…I agree with Tina…so hard to choose. I guess if I have to choose, I like the chapel – it’s an original type of house!

I really want to make a gingerbread house this year 🙂 Hopefully it’ll go well! Did you buy your gingerbread pieces or did you make them?

  2. these are all incredible! it’s almost impossible to choose just one. c really jumped out at me because it’s so traditional and adorable (and necco wafers! yay!) and i loved a, especially because of the graham cracker ramp, but i think b has such a cool roof and it’s a neat and original idea. so i vote b. when do i get to eat it?

  3. I like B: Country Chapel. I’m a sucker for creative stained glass, and I liked that it was traditional with a little twist on a normal gingerbread house.

  4. Wow, beautiful! I would pick the country chapel. Also, those melted hard candies in the stained glass are super cool! Oh, but that jelly bean path is so neat too…

  6. My choice would be C… I like the shingles and entry path tho the door. I also like the snowman – he’s so cute welcoming the guests.

(A and B are great too! What a fun idea to make it a contest… that way everyone would definitely pay more attention to detail).

  7. My favorite’s C, the Candy Cottage. It’s extremely well-executed, with clean lines. But I love the stained glass windows on B. That nearly beat it out.

  8. My 4-year old daughter got very excited about all of the gingerbread houses! She into food and “plans to be an architect”. She picks B for the best design!

  9. I am a newbie posting here, hope I do it right….I vote for “C” because I like the trees, roof, snowman and pumpkins! hmmmm…I may borrow your idea. I do like the stained glass windows and the steeple of “B”..

    Happy Holidays!

  10. all awesome but I vote B cuz of the almonds. I would like to make one with no candy whatsoever. We’ll see if I get around to it.

  11. That was one of the hardest things to decide. There were things I loved about each, but in the end I pick B. You got me with the stained “glass” windows.

  12. Such attention to detail, it’s so difficult to choose! I’m torn between B and C but I think I’m going to plump for B cos I love the almond shingles and gumdrop lamps.

  13. I really like the idea of this, it is a fun way to get your creativity flowing. The best bit has to be that you can eat it after (although it may be too sweet). I like them all in different ways but I think ‘B’ is my favourite. Thanks for including me as your friend.

  14. Wow! So beautiful and such clever use of candies! I vote for C because it makes me think of the Hensel and Gretel fairy tale by Brothers Grimm.
