My brother Jason’s “Hamming” it up for the camera

I told you lots of stories about taking care of my brother Jason, now you can meet him! For those of you who don’t know, he’s autistic and 21 years old. Eric and I took care of him while my parents were in Ohio for my uncle’s funeral. This is how he makes his favorite sandwich everyday for school/work. A ham and mustard sandwich. Eric was so excited the first time he saw Jason make it and said “I HAVE to put this on youtube!”

I know Jason would love it if you leave a comment 🙂

  1. Wow, Jason, you must really love mustard! I’m not sure I could eat so much of it at one time — but your video made me hungry, and I think I’ll make myself a ham sandwich for dinner tonight!

  2. Hi Jason,

I love your method of distributing the mustard by flipping the ham over – very clever! And I’m definitely not as neat and tidy when I make sandwiches. Watching you make your favorite sandwich is making me hungry…ham and mustard -keeping it simple is the best way to go.

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Hi, Jason!

Your video made me smile… Great job with the sandwich! I am a ham and mustard fan, as well. I like mine with honey mustard sometimes, too. Keep up the great work!

  6. Jason, I really liked how you patted down the ham to make sure the mustard got onto BOTH sides of the sandwich, that’s really cool. I’m going to try that next time *I* use mustard :0) My favorite mustard is “Mr. Mustard – Sweet Hot” it’s delicious!

  8. Jason, that’s an awesome way of getting the mustard to be even on both the top and bottom of the sandwich! I’m going to have to borrow your method for my sandwiches, because I like things to be even like that! Thanks for showing us how!

  9. Hi Jason, the sandwich you made looks great and the video you made is very helpful. You should make more videos because I think there are people out there that could use a good reference on how to make the perfect sandwich. Nice pick with the French’s Mustard….it’s my favorite too!

  12. I made a sandwich the other day, and the mustard was very runny so I squeezed some out in the sink. Jason said he liked mustard juice and if I kept doing that he wanted separate bottles! Now I understand I should have shaken the bottle instead… I remember when we were kids, the perfect combination for him was peanut butter and honey. 🙂

  13. Jason,

Ham and mustard is a CLASSIC combination. In Britain, we’d say ham and mustard goes together like fish and chips (if you’re ever in the UK, look me up and we’ll have ham and mustard sandwiches for lunch and fish and chips for dinner…it would be the perfect day).

I think adding the mustard then flipping the ham over is a great way of spreading the mustard out through the sandwich. It makes for a more balanced lunch – brilliant tip, and I’ll be using it!

  15. Aloha Jason. I liked your double application of mustard. I do a similar thing by reapplying ketchup to my burger several times while I’m devouring it. You can never have too much mustard on a ham sandwich. Ham mustard purists rule!

  17. Personally my mother thought us Jolly boys put too much mustard on sandwiches. I’m glad to know that someone else doesn’t think it’s possible to put “too much” mustard on a sandwich.
