Eating Richly Interview on Bay Area Bites

Diana-Johnson

I’m so honored to share that I was recently interviewed and featured on Bay Area Bites.  The interview was by Sarah Henry, who I first met two years ago when I was speaking at BlogHer Food ’10.  I was trying to figure out how I could afford air fare and hotel in San Francisco, when a friend put me in touch with Sarah of Lettuce Eat Kale (cute name right?).  We’d never met but she generously offered to let me stay in her son’s room since he’d be gone for the weekend.

A fellow speaker later described her as a scrappy reporter, which fits perfectly.  She somehow manages to be beautiful and generous, while still giving the impression that she’s lived life against seemingly insurmountable odds.  I was inspired by her from the moment she picked me up at the BART station, and we spent every night staying up way too late sharing our stories.

I got the chance to speak again at this year’s BlogHer Food, this time on Hunger in America.  Sarah and I found some time to sit down and catch up, and she asked permission to do a feature on me.  Always excited to share my story and encourage others in the pursuit of healthy eating, I quickly agreed.

She’s a wonderful writer and beautifully captured my story and my passion.  Check it out and be sure to leave a comment of encouragement there for her!
