Teaching your kids to scramble eggs is a great introduction to using the stove. Corban is almost three, so I let him use
the stove today with close supervision, but I would suggest mom or dad doing the cooking portion if your mini chef is younger
than three. Sometimes it can be hard to get Corban to eat protein. But he is almost always excited to eat eggs. We eat so
many that we hope to have our own backyard chickens one day, something I am proud to have been a part of getting allowed
in our city during my time in the Mayor’s office. But for now, we buy them from friends, or sometimes the grocery store.

can remember he’s been told not to touch the stove, and now mama was telling him he was going to use it.

We eat so many that we hope to have our own backyard chickens one day, something I am proud to have been a part of getting allowed in our city during my time in the Mayor's office. But for now, we buy them from friends, or sometimes the grocery store. Teaching kids to crack eggs is a great confidence builder. We used eight eggs today, and I helped him with the first six,
then he did the last two on his own. He was SO proud!

a fork to quickly stir the eggs. When the whites and yolks are all mixed together, you’re done.

hotter and the eggs stick faster than you can stir and scrape.

the eggs apart, you want big fluffy curds, just keep scraping along the bottom and sides. As the eggs all start to come together,
just gently flip them with the spatula until they no longer look really wet.

flavor, but perfectly scrambled eggs are wonderful plain as well.

right there supervising, and Corban has burned himself before (so knows how much it hurts), his impulse control is just not
strong enough to resist the temptation. As the frying pan was heating up, he reached right out and touched it with the tip
of his finger to see if it was really as hot as I told him. It was. We immediately ran his finger under cold water, and he
was fine, but from now on we will definitely keep oven mitts on him until he’s older.

How To Scramble Eggs Perfectly

How To Scramble Eggs Perfectly

It's easy to make perfect scrambled eggs once you know all the secrets. Here's how to get light and fluffy scrambled eggs every time. You can easily double, triple, or quadruple the recipe as well. Just know that cooking time will take longer, and make sure your pan is big enough.

Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 7 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter, or sub olive or coconut oil
  • dash of salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Crack the eggs into a bowl or glass (I like to use a glass for just one or two eggs).
  2. Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet on medium low heat.
  3. Whisk the eggs with a fork (stir quickly) until the whites and yolks are all mixed together, then stir in a couple sprinkles of salt and pepper.
  4. Pour the eggs into the pan and immediately begin to slowly stir the eggs and scrape the pan with a silicone spatula.
  5. Continue to stir and scrape, pulling the cooked egg up to the top so the raw egg can flow onto the pan. Do not use the spatula to break the eggs up, keep them big and fluffy.
  6. Once the eggs are all holding together, continue to gently flip them in the pan until they no longer look really wet.
  7. Use the spatula to scoop the eggs onto a plate.
  8. Add additional salt or pepper to taste.

Notes

Approximate cost/serving: Eggs are cheap! We get local eggs for $3/dozen so this cost us just over 50 cents.
