HOW TO MAKE THIS HEALTHY CINNAMON POPCORN RECIPE
To make your own healthy cinnamon popcorn recipe, start with popping your corn. Go with an oil free method for popping it. You can use an air popper, or use a silicone microwave popper like we do.
Using the microwave popper, make sure you stand right by the microwave and stop it as soon as there is a pause between pops. You can shake out the popped corn, and then put back any that haven’t popped. Every microwave is different, so be watchful to avoid the awfulness of burnt popcorn.
For the apples, I use freeze dried apples, which are already deliciously crispy. They have NO added sugars or preservatives, just pure Fuji apples freeze dried at the peak of ripeness. We love snacking on (and cooking with) freeze dried foods SO much, that I ended up becoming a Thrive Life consultant for the discount!
You could use dehydrated apple rings, but you may get added sugar or preservatives. You will also need to toast them in the oven, before making the rest of the healthy cinnamon popcorn recipe, so they can get crispy.
To make your own healthy cinnamon popcorn, simply mix the popcorn, pecans, and freeze dried apples on a baking sheet. Whisk together the cinnamon sauce, and drizzle it over the popcorn mix. Stir everything up, spread it back out, and toast in the oven until the apples are golden.

- 1 cup broken up freeze dried apples
- 5 cups popped popcorn
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- sprinkling salt to taste
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
- Mix apple pieces, popcorn, and nuts on a large rimmed baking sheet.
- In a small bowl combine coconut oil, maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract, and nutmeg.
- Drizzle the cinnamon sauce over the popcorn mix, stirring well.
- Spread out evenly on the pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- Check that apples are golden. If they are, remove from oven. If not golden yet, give the popcorn mix a stir and bake another 5-10 minutes.
- Let cool, and sprinkle with additional salt to taste. Store in an airtight container.

I wish I had this recipe when my little ones were home. Great snack and it’s good for you. We love popcorn and haven’t made it in a while. I’ll have to make this recipe for the grandsons. I think they’ll really enjoy it.
