Feeding America’s Virtual Town Hall Sept 15

feeding america logoHave you heard of Feeding America?  They are an incredible organization that does a fantastic job advocating for hunger relief.  You may have seen their commercials with celebrity partners like Ben Affleck who help to raise awareness.  I’ve had some great conversations with Shannon of Feeding America and can’t wait to share some of what I’ve learned with you.  But today I wanted to make sure you’re aware of a virtual town hall coming up this Thursday.

The Department of  Agriculture Under Secretary Kevin Concannon will describe how SNAP (food stamps) and child nutrition programs are working to prevent child hunger.  Lorretta Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer of the American Federation of Teachers will discuss how hunger affects a child’s ability to learn.  Feeding America CEO Vicki Escarra will explain how nutrition programs are at risk of budget cuts and how you can use your voice to advocate for anti-hunger programs.

Almost 49 MILLION Americans struggle with hunger.  If you’re at all interested in the hunger issues in America, especially the 1 in 4 children in America who struggle with hunger, don’t miss this virtual meeting!

After the Virtual Town Hall, you can connect directly to your Members of Congress as part of a national call in day. If you can’t join the town hall, you can simply dial 1-877-698-8228 to make your voice heard. Tell Congress to protect anti-hunger programs as part of any deficit deal.

If you are able to participate, I’d love to hear your thoughts!  Please comment here or email me.  The more conversations we can have about ending hunger, the sooner we can actually do something about it.
