NATURE SCAVENGER HUNT IDEAS
One our favorite activities for camping with kids is going on a nature scavenger hunt. You can definitely write up your own nature scavenger hunt list with items you know will be in the area your kids are searching. Or even just tell them one item at a time.
But I wanted a nature scavenger hunt printable with images since my kids aren’t old enough to read yet.
By having an image for each item on the scavenger hunt list, they can be pretty self sufficient on the scavenger hunt.
When we get to a campground, I hand the kids their scavenger hunt and they search all around our campsite while we get camp set up. It’s amazing how special a rock or a stick becomes when it’s an item they need to cross off their scavenger hunt list.

I suggest printing the scavenger hunt on card stock so it is sturdy enough to hold up to a nature walk.
You can make this nature walk scavenger hunt single use by writing directly on it with a pen, pencil, or crayon. If you have kids who love collecting mementos, you can help them write notes about the items they found. Then they can take the nature scavenger hunt list home with them, instead of trying to take all of nature.
I will also often snap a photo of their favorite items they found so they can see them again later.
If you want to reuse the scavenger hunt, slip it into a clear notebook sheet protector. Then you can use a dry erase marker to cross items off the list. This is a great option if you are on a road trip or camping for several days and plan to use the nature scavenger hunt multiple times within the same trip.
